SMB Service Calls

No IT department. No monthly contract. Just business-grade help when you need it — one call, one job, one transparent price. Real support for the Metro Detroit small businesses that fall between "ask my nephew" and "hire an MSP."

Who this is for

Too small for an IT department. Too serious for guesswork.

Most Metro Detroit small businesses don't need a full-time technician or a monthly managed contract — they need someone who actually knows business networks to show up, fix it right, document it, and hand them the bill.

You have no IT staff

Right now the "IT person" is you, the owner, or whoever on staff is best with computers. That works until it doesn't — and it usually stops working on your busiest day.

You'd rather pay per job

You have a handful of computers and no appetite for a monthly commitment yet. Paying for work only when work is required is a perfectly reasonable way to run a small business.

But it still has to be done right

Your POS, your customer data, and your cameras aren't hobby projects. One-time doesn't mean cutting corners — every job is documented and handed off to you.

No contract, no retainer, no minimum commitment
Transparent rates

Business labor pricing

Published commercial rates so you always know the number before we start. Every service call is quoted and approved before any work begins.

On-site labor $110 / hour
  • 1-hour minimum
  • Billed in 30-minute increments after the first hour
  • No travel fee within 15 miles of our Livonia office — see zones below
Remote labor $90 / hour
  • 1-hour minimum
  • Billed in 15-minute increments after the first hour
  • Secure remote session — no software left behind
Priority Emergency / after-hours $220 / hour
  • Response within 2–4 hours
  • Twice our standard on-site rate
  • Evenings, weekends & holidays
  • Business-down and security incidents

The consultation is always free. We diagnose the problem and quote the work at no charge — labor is only billed once you approve the job.

Hardware, licensing, and parts are billed separately and always quoted in advance. We'll tell you when buying it yourself is cheaper.

Standard business hours are Monday–Friday, 8am–6pm. Scheduled work can be performed after close or before open at the emergency rate so your business never stops for us.

If you're on a plan

Managed clients pay less for labor — or nothing at all

The rates above are for one-time, no-contract calls. If you're on one of our managed service plans, the same work is discounted or already covered by your monthly rate.

Travel

Travel zones

We're based in Livonia and most of our clients are close to home, so the majority of visits carry no travel fee at all. Anything further is a flat charge by zone — never a per-mile surprise on the invoice.

ZoneDistanceRoughly coversTravel fee
Zone 1Up to 15 milesLivonia, Westland, Canton, Plymouth, Northville, Novi, Farmington, Redford, Garden City, Southfield, DearbornNo fee
Zone 216–30 milesDetroit, Royal Oak, Troy, Ann Arbor, Warren, Pontiac, Taylor$45
Zone 331–50 milesBrighton, Monroe, Rochester, Chesterfield$90
BeyondOver 50 milesOutside our normal service areaQuoted first

Zones are measured one way by road from our Livonia office, and we confirm yours when we quote — so you know the number before we drive out, not after. The cities listed are a guide; if you sit near a zone edge we'll tell you which side you fall on. Travel is charged once per visit, not per hour. On Managed and Complete plans, travel in Zones 1 and 2 is included — one more reason a plan beats repeat call-outs if you're not next door.

Flat-rate work

Common jobs, fixed pricing

The jobs we're called for most often are priced as flat rates instead of by the hour — if it takes longer than expected, that's our problem, not your invoice.

New workstation setupUnboxing, updates, business apps, user profile, and network join.
Workstation replacement & data migrationEverything above, plus full transfer of files, profiles, and installed software.
Network device installationSwitch, firewall, or router — mounted, configured, and documented.
Wi-Fi access point installationPlacement survey, mounting, cabling termination, and tuning.
Security camera installationCamera mounting, aiming, cabling, and NVR configuration.
Server or NAS installationRack or shelf mount, OS and share configuration, backup target setup.
Mailbox migrationMail, contacts, and calendar moved to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
Network & security assessmentFull walkthrough of your network with a written findings and priorities report.
Backup setup & verificationCloud backup deployed, first full backup completed, restore tested.
Employee onboarding or offboardingAccounts, email, permissions, and device setup — or full access revocation.
Data recovery diagnosticDrive evaluation and a firm recovery quote. Credited toward the recovery.
Virus & malware remediationFull cleanup, verification, and a written report on how it got in.

Multiple devices in one visit are discounted. Deploying six workstations on one trip costs far less per device than six separate calls — we'll price the whole batch up front.

Flat rates assume standard conditions. Runs through finished walls, ceiling work, or existing systems in unknown condition are quoted separately — and always before we start.

The process

How a service call works

From your first call to the invoice, here's exactly what to expect.

1

You call, and a technician answers

No ticket portal, no phone tree, no offshore tier-one reading a script. You describe the problem to the person who is going to fix it.

2

We diagnose and quote — free

Often we can identify the issue over the phone or in a quick remote session. You get a firm price and a realistic timeline before anything is billable.

3

We schedule around your business

Standard calls are scheduled at your convenience during business hours. Anything disruptive gets scheduled before you open or after you close. Emergencies get a 2–4 hour response.

4

We do the work and document it

The job gets done right the first time, and you receive written documentation of what was changed — passwords, IP addresses, configurations, and serial numbers. It's your business, so it's your information.

5

You get one clear invoice

Labor, parts, and any travel fee, itemized against the quote you approved. Net 15 terms available for established business accounts.

Calling us often? A plan probably costs you less.

Service calls are the right answer for occasional work. But once the same problems keep coming back, the arithmetic changes. Essentials starts at $35 per workstation per month, includes the monitoring that catches a failing drive before it takes a Tuesday down with it, and drops your labor rate to $85 onsite. The real saving is the emergency call you never have to make. We'll tell you when you've crossed that line instead of quietly billing hours.
